Changes to SAGA Program

Members currently enrolled in SAGA are now eligible for Medicaid. This change is retroactive to April 1, 2010. For a list of participating Medicaid providers, please call Connecticut Medical Assistance Client Assistance Center. The toll-free number is 1.866.409.8430. It is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Why is this changing?

The SAGA program has been discontinued. This is a result of the federal Affordability Act. This act is also known as national health care reform.

Is this a good change?

Yes, this is good news for you because Medicaid covers more services than the SAGA program did.

Which doctors can I see?

If you would like to know which doctors accept Medicaid in your area, please call the Client Assistance Center. The toll-free number is 1.866.409.8430. It is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Does my doctor accept Medicaid?

Call your current doctor. Ask if he or she accepts Medicaid. If your doctor does not accept Medicaid but would like to join the program, your doctor can call 1.800.842.8440 to enroll. If you would like to know which doctors near you accept Medicaid, please call the Client Assistance Center. The toll-free number is 1.866.409.8430. It is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

What do I have to do to for Medicaid to pay for my services?

Bring your gray CONNECT card with you when you go to the doctor. You can only see a doctor who takes Medicaid. If the doctor does not take Medicaid, the visit will not be paid for.

Can I still get a ride to my appointment?

Yes. You can still schedule a ride for your Medicaid-covered service. You must call at least 48 hours before your appointment. And you can only schedule a ride on a weekday. If you need to schedule a ride, please call Coordinated Transportation Solutions. The toll-free number is 1.800.818.6781. It is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
