HUSKY Plan

HUSKY is Healthcare for UninSured Kids and Youth in Connecticut. HUSKY provides free or low cost medical insurance for children. The HUSKY program offers comprehensive health insurance to all eligible children in Connecticut under the age of 19, regardless of income. There are two parts to HUSKY, Part A and Part B. HUSKY A is also known as Medicaid or Title 19. It is free to children whose family size and income meet the eligibility guidelines. Parents or guardians can choose a plan that best meets their family’s needs from a list of participating health care plans.

HUSKY B is a low cost health care program for children who are uninsured. Families not eligible for HUSKY A may be eligible for HUSKY B, no matter how high their income level.

HUSKY is available to children:

  • who are United States citizens or qualified immigrants
  • whose family income is within the guidelines established by the HUSKY program; assets are not included (like cars and bank accounts)
  • who are under age 19 and residents of Connecticut
