Community Health Network Of Connecticut

EDI Submission Process

HIPAA is coming and the October 16, 2003 deadline for the Transaction and Code sets are fast approaching.  To help you, our providers, we will be sending out information on where we stand on becoming compliant over the next few weeks.  These information sheets will be distributed via the EOB accompanying your claims check.  All covered entities are required to use compliant transactions on the implementation date.  We will help you in your efforts to submit compliant claims to us either directly or via a clearinghouse.  Please look at the information below and on the reverse side or visit our website for additional information.

Community Health Network Of Connecticut offers the following methods to submit electronic claims for processing:

 

WebMD – Providers that utilize WebMD may submit HIPAA compliant claims to us via their current connection.  We are currently in testing with WebMD and our software vendor.  To submit a test file, contact your WebMD representative and CHNCT.  Cecelia Lewandowski is the contact at CHNCT. All costs of submission of EDI claims via WebMD are the responsibility of the provider and not CHNCT.

Companion Guides are located here. 		Direct Connection to submit claims. Community Health Network Of Connecticut is currently establishing a direct connection that will allow providers to submit claims directly to us via the internet.  Claims may be submitted and responses received individually or in a batch mode.  All applicable standard transactions identified in the HIPAA Transaction Standard will be supported.  To setup and test for using the direct connection, contact Ray Hastings. He may be contacted at 203-949-4000 extension 4056. Email at rhastings@chnct.org.

All costs for submission of EDI claims via the direct connection will be the responsibility of Community Health Network Of Connecticut.

www.chnct.org		 CMS – The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid are the official government contacts for all HIPAA transaction. Their web site contains a lot of information regarding all aspects of HIPAA.

www.cms.gov		 Washington Publishing Company – This site contains all the implementation guides and official documents regarding HIPAA.  Some items are free and others are on a cost basis.
