Earth Day 2009

In an effort to respect and preserve the environment as socially responsible organizations, CHNCT teamed up with Metro Taxi to “go green” last spring. Together we launched our “Spring into a Green Routine” campaign on Earth Day, April 22, 2009. That day, all Metro Taxi riders received information from CHNCT that taught them how to easily incorporate a green routine in their daily lives. They also received an eco-friendly, reusable CHNCT tote.

But CHNCT’s effort to go green didn’t stop there. We also went “green” here at CHNCT headquarters. We stopped providing Styrofoam cups in our kitchens and instead gave a reusable CHNCT mug to every employee. We also installed motion detectors to help save energy and low-flush toilets to conserve water.

Why Go Organic?

Did you know that some of the “healthy” foods we eating may be harming us, rather than helping us? That’s because a lot of the fruits and vegetables we are produced with chemicals and pesticides. This removes a lot of the healthy parts from these foods. It also exposes us to bad chemicals that can really harm us.

Organic foods are made without any of these harmful toxins. All are made produced naturally.

Here are 10 reasons on why you should go organic.

What's Really in Your Food?

Many foods are grown using pesticides. Pesticides can cause heart problems like birth defects, nerve damage and even cancer. There are other effects that may happen over a longer period of time. That would depend on how bad the pesticide is. It also depends on how much of it gets into your body.

Children can be affected by pesticides the most. That’s because their bodies do not have a fully developed immune system, liver or kidney to protect them. They are also more at risk because they are closer to ground. And that is where the pesticides are located.
